GGGAMB'S 9TH SEASON IS HERE!
The Waiting is Over!
Dear Band,
A newspaper reporter and photographer will attend
our rehearsal and maybe join us in the parade, so be
careful of your behavior. Don't be too boring!
Rehearsal Monday morning will be in the auditorium
of the Geneva Rural Heritage Center (formerly the old
brick schoolhouse) the same as last year. Let's try to get
started at 9 AM on the dot. There's a lot to do.
To help wake you up, one room of the Heritage Center
will become a Coffee House, open from 7:30 on. They
will also be showing cartoons for kids in another room,
so if any of you disappear, I'll know where to look.
It's going to be a great band! We have met the goal of 40 and will likely surpass it. It's
not too late for recruiting or at least bringing friends with flags. (Most of the band's flags
are spoken for.)
You know the routine or can find it at The Map.
We will return to the RHC after the parade, but must get down to the Community Center
fairly soon. They can't start the festival without us, and I have their solemn promise that
they won't thwart us by playing a recorded Star-Spangled Banner while we stand there
looking like misfits and outcasts, as happened last year.
Cool comfortable clothing is recommended, but colorful and festive are encouraged. It's
been a good idea the last couple of years to carry a water bottle, but this year we again
have the services of Wightman's Water Wagon, with Chief Bottle Squeezer Gunga Dad to
keep us relentlessly hydrated. It also helps to think of glaciers.
Please check in with me when you get to the rehearsal hall to pick up any music you don't
have, and also to get your coupons for a free hot dog (or pizza slice) and a drink.
That's all the compensation you'll receive, apart from happy memories, so get busy and
make some. See you bright and early Monday. Call if you get lost. Thanks!
