GGGAMB'S 9TH SEASON!

   YES!!

Dear Band,

Membership this year has passed 30, and 40 is in sight.
That's a manageable number (we were up to 55 one year).

THANK YOU to those who have responded,
even if it was no.  Of course, if you're the type that just
shows up without warning, that's all right, too!

Here's what we've got so far, with plenty of room left for players and auxiliary:

2 Flute                       4 Trumpet                  3 Euphonium               2 Snare Drum
1 Clarinet                  0 Mellophone             3 Sousaphone              1 Bass Drum
5 Saxophone              1 Trombone                1 Bells                        1 Cymbals

Plus 1 water wagon attendant, 2 banner carriers, 2 flag wavers, 1 baton twirler, 1 bone
twirler, 1 official photographer, and the Old Maestro himself (Maestro Stinky Peugh).

There's still time to recruit and time to sign on--right up until the parade begins.  Some of
your notices at churches and other recruiting efforts have paid off.
Our website has had
263 hits since May 17th.  Have you left any stones unturned?

By the way, the accordion players never responded to the invitation, so the well-meaning
citizen who invited them has written to a bagpiper.  I hope he has a summer-weight kilt.

Two things regarding the band came up at the parade planning meeting this morning.
1. The parade route will be reversed this year, and that's a good thing.  It means we will
end the parade on 1st Street where all the people are, instead of beginning there, so save
some breath.  2. They will place us in the parade where we will be least likely to anger
those marching behind us when we stop to play Happy Birthday or take a union break.

That's all for now.  Remember to click on
The Map for directions and schedule.

PS  New piece this year:
March of the Cobblers from the film Brassed Off.  Would you
like the music mailed?
