YES OR NO?
Dear Band,
Just came from the community 4th of July planning meeting
and extracted their solemn promise that there would be no
sabotage like last year. WE WILL BE PLAYING THE
STAR-SPANGLED BANNER at the start of the program!
It's not just a condition of our participation, it's also more
effective than the recording they played last year (Duh!).
When we give it that special GGGAMB touch and lead the singing, it becomes a major
community event and stirs patriotic emotions. It's GGGAMB's moment of glory.
But so far, we've only got half a band. Please respond if you think you might join the
band this year or are certain that you won't. Also, please help recruit new players or
auxiliary. Some of our loyal members will be away with another band this year, though
why they would prefer the Calgary Stampede to the Geneva Stampede is beyond
comprehension. Do they get a free hot dog, too?
The band is strong in the saxophone and sousaphone sections (never too strong), but
every other section needs filling out. Please help get the word out if you can. Let me
know if you'd like music mailed ahead of the event, either the full set or just this year's
new march.
Remember to click on The Map for directions and schedule. And again, we each get a
free hot dog or pizza slice, plus drink, as compensation. Can you afford to stay home?
