THE HIGHLY-ESTEEMED GGGAMB...
HAS RUN OUT OF STEAM!
The first newsletter three weeks ago produced 11
confirming responses (thank you to those who wrote!).
The number always increases up to and including the
day of the event, but it looks like we won't reach
40 or 50 or more, as in the past few years.
I suppose eleven can call themselves a band.
That number includes our fearless leader and
awesome drummer and an assortment of fine
musicians (and me), which might be able to
generate steam enough to support the festivities
on the 3rd of July and hold onto the coveted
Grande Award for another year.
CHANGE OF REHEARSAL VENUE
PLEASE NOTE: If there is a band this year, it
will not rehearse in the day care center behind the
Methodist Church as before. Instead we will use
the auditorium of the Geneva Rural Heritage Center!
The RHC is right across the street from the parade staging area in the Baptist Church parking lot.
Just look for a building at the corner of 1st and Main Streets that looks like an old brick school-
house built in 1924. There should be plenty of parking in the new (newer) school's lot next door
when you arrive before the 9:00 AM rehearsal. MAP The main entrance to the building is on
the side street (Main Street) and still says GENEVA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL above the door.
The auditorium has room for a band of 60 or more, so the 11 of us can really spread out.
Other details remain the same as in the May 9th newsletter, and there will be another newsletter
in a couple of weeks with more info and an up-to-date report on the steam pressure.
