GGGAMB's 8TH PERFORMANCE SEASON: FACT OR FICTION?

The campaign begins each year at this time to generate some
wild, fanatical enthusiasm for the forthcoming season of
The Greater Geneva Grande Award Marching Band.

If you've been paying attention, you'll know that this
will be our 8th gala performance season, but instead
of lasting from 9 AM until 1 PM on the 4th of July
as usual, it has been moved to Saturday, July 3rd.
That's so any of you with a guilty conscience can
repent on Sunday for acts of aggression committed
in the name of music.

So, are you up for a 4th of July parade and concert
on the 3rd of July?  If you have forgotten the heat
and humidity, remembering only the fun of getting
together with old friends or fellow musicians
(or both), then how about taking a chance at
recapturing past glories this year?

Maestro Stinky Peugh has tentatively agreed to bravely
lead the band for the parade and to conduct the concert at the
picnic/festival that follows, with no concern for his personal safety.

For those who enjoyed the film
Brassed Off, a piece called
"March of the Cobblers" has been added to our repertoire this year.
And those who enjoy Cockney rhyming slang will know that the
title is intended as a joke.  In its
very mildest form, cobblers means
rubbish.  It was the march played in the film when the band's
spirit was at an all-time low.  We can use it to demonstrate our
high spirits.  It's a good marching tune and, as usual, we will
play a shortened version.  Listen to it at
Cobblers  Other music
can be heard at
The Music  (We won't play all of it on the 3rd.)

Please think about it and then send an e-mail to say whether you
might be in the band this year.  (Or don't think about it; just do it!)
The band means a lot to some of you, and it is really appreciated
by the Geneva Citizens Association and by our devoted audience
of parade-goers and picnickers.

Thanks!

Richard
