IT'S TIME TO GET THOSE HORNS OUT!
And those drums and flags and banners! And the
Water Wagon!! (And even the music?)
Yes, the civic leaders of the Village of Geneva
insist that our band is essential to the success of
their 4th of July celebration. And who are we to
say they're wrong?
The rehearsal and performance schedule will be
the same as last year, with rehearsal at 9 AM,
parade at 10:30, and concert at the beginning of
the picnic at the Community Center: probably 11:30.
And the band will be the same as last year, more
or less, depending on who (if anyone) shows up.
We had a good mix last year and were especially
strong in the saxophone and flag sections.
As usual, there will be some new music and some that's familiar, but all at a skill level that won't
exclude beginners. Advanced musicians may play more of the notes, if they wish.
Also as usual, we each get a free hot dog or hamburger and a drink after the picnic concert. It's a
bribe. That's how much the Geneva Citizens Association wants us back.
So, are there any volunteers this year? Or are some of you going to surprise me and just show
up on the day like last time? (That's OK, too!) Lots of band members invited their friends last
year and those are always welcome. And any help with recruiting would be greatly appreciated.
Geneva's band heritage extends back more than a century
I wonder what became of those nifty little capes. Perfect for summer.
Hope to hear from you!
