Dear GGGAMB Member:

This won't take long.  I know you must be busy
polishing your horn or breaking in a new reed or
tightening your head (if you're a drummer), not to
mention purchasing drip-dry clothing and ear plugs.

But you will be interested to learn that we'll have a larger
rehearsal room this year, and we're going to need it!  The
pastor of the Methodist Church has offered the day care
center, which appears much bigger because the chairs
are so small.  It's behind the main church building and
just beyond the room we used last year.

DIRECTIONS TO GENEVA from Orlando, Winter Park, etc.:
First find Oviedo (good luck!), which is north-east of most of the population.  Geneva lies a
dozen or so miles beyond at the end of CR-426, which becomes 1st street after crossing SR-46.
The Methodist Church is about half a mile down 1st street on the left.  Link to
map.

FROM OTHER PLACES: SR-46 is the main highway from Sanford to the west and the Space
Coast to the east.  Link to
map.

Why are directions necessary if it's the Geneva Band?  Because Geneva residents make up less
than 4% of it.  So far, there are more band members coming from Boca Raton or Largo or other
areas than Geneva.  (Genevans are not very musical, which is how we won the Grande Award.)
Half a dozen musicians are making the long trek from Davenport, Florida, wherever that is.

PARKING: Wherever you can find it on the side street by the church, in the elementary school
lot, or behind the Community Center (where we'll play our concert) if it's available that early.

REHEARSAL: There is little danger of being too good by parade time, so it's important to start
the rehearsal promptly at 9 AM.  I will be there early to hand out music to those who don't have
it already, and there will be someone to register those who wish to be on the mailing list and get
their GGGAMB souvenir pen (a 42-cent value--free!).  Be sure to pick up your food and drink
coupons at the registration desk, too.  Each participant gets a coupon for choice of a free hot dog
or hamburger, plus a free drink, redeemable at the picnic.

SCHEDULE: As before, the rehearsal begins promptly(?) at 9 AM.  The parade begins at 10:30
after a vintage airplane flyover.  And we launch the community picnic with our thrilling rendition
of
The Star-Spangled Banner at 11:30, after a jet fighter flyover to tighten the eardrums of our
audience, thereby preventing further injury.  We usually finish about noon, after which--like jury
duty--you are relieved of further service for a period of one year.

THE MUSIC: See previous newsletter for the program.  If you bring an old copy of
Danny Boy,
please exchange it for the new, super-sized Greg Barker arrangement that says GGGAMB on it.
Click the link
(here) to hear the music.  (Not all of our music will be played.)

QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS:
E-mail or phone 407-312-1723.

POSITIONS TO FILL: There's still an opportunity for a band singer or two, and no one has
claimed the funny flags yet (which say WELCOME and USED CARS).  The band is up to 36
musicians and auxiliary so far, which is great, but there's always room for more!

Now that didn't take long.
